Kate's Biography
Catherine Osbourne Sargent, also called Kate, was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1825 to Epes Sargent V and Mary Lincoln in 1825. She grew up in Boston and Roxbury but moved several times during her childhood. Her father married three times and had twelve children. Kate's mother, Hannah Dane, was Epes third wife. Kate's sister also named Hannah, would go on to marry Frederic Dan Huntington. In 1862, she married Austin Sumner. He died in 1879 and she remained a widow throughout her life. She lived in the Sargent house in Cedar Square, Roxbury with her brother James. The children of her nephew George Huntington lived with her at various times while they were at school in Boston including Catharine Sargent Huntington. She died in 1909 in Roxbury, Massachusetts.
