Catharine's Biography
Catharine was born on December 29, 1887 in Ashfield Massachusetts to Lily Barrett and George Huntington, Ruth Huntington's oldest brother. She grew up in Hanover, New Hampshire with her five brothers. When Catharine was nineteen years old she lived at Cedar Square in Roxbury with her great aunt Kate Sumner while she attended private school in Boston. During that time she also spent a year in London living with her brother Constant. By 1911 she had graduated from Radcliffe College and began teaching at a boarding school in Connecticut. In 1914 she traveled again, spending a summer in Europe. At age thirty two in 1919, she began working in France for the YMCA women's league. Once returned to the United States she spent the rest of her life devoted to supporting and developing theatre in Massachusetts. On February 27, 1987 Catharine died at ninety nine years old.
