Mildred's Biography
Mildred Hunting was born in Watertown, NY on January 25th 1894 to Stanley Hunting and Grace Devendorf. She attended public school in Watertown and later Maryland College for Women, graduating in 1915. During World War I she was a member of the Red Cross. Mildred traveled often to the Middle East spending 18 months in Tabriz, the eastern part of Persia with a close friend Marjorie Wilson. During this time she was involved with the Near East Relief, a philanthropic group that worked in the Middle East and Africa. In 1928 she returned to the United States and lived in Rochester, New York. December 3, 1929 Mildred married Edwin Sessions Wheeler, a distant second cousin of Catharine. They had two children Richard and Elizabeth. In December 1933 Mildred became ill with diaphragmatic pleurisy, dying a week later in her home in Westfield, New Jersey.
